Black Queens Arrive in UAE for Pink Ladies Cup

Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have arrived in the United Arab Emirates to compete in the 2025 Pink Ladies Cup.
The team touched down in the early hours of Wednesday as they gear up for the four-nation tournament, which forms part of their build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be staged in Morocco.
Head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren named his squad for the competition last week, handing opportunities to six new players as he continues to assess options and strengthen the team ahead of the continental showpiece.
The Black Queens will face Hong Kong, Russia and Tanzania in what is expected to be a competitive test of their readiness and depth. The technical team views the tournament as a crucial opportunity to fine-tune tactics, build cohesion and evaluate player combinations against varied opposition.
The Pink Ladies Cup is also expected to offer valuable international exposure as Ghana intensifies preparations for WAFCON 2026. With the tournament drawing nearer, the coaching staff is keen on using every available window to sharpen match fitness and strengthen team chemistry.
The Queens are scheduled to begin training immediately as they prepare for their opening fixture on February 28.
Team officials remain confident that the experience in the UAE will play a significant role in shaping a competitive squad capable of making a strong impact at the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
