Black Stars Ass. Coach, Paintsil, Thinks Experience Could Take Stars to 2026 World Cup Final

Assistant coach of the Black Stars, John Paintsil, has expressed confidence in Ghana’s prospects at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying the squad has the experience to reach the semifinals or even the final.

Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico this summer.

After exiting at the group stage in both the 2014 and 2022 World Cups in Brazil and Qatar, Paintsil believes the team has matured and is ready to challenge for the latter stages of the competition.

“We have enough experience to be in the semi-finals or final of the 2026 World Cup,” he told 3Sports.

The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, followed by a clash with England on June 23. They will round off the group stage against Croatia on June 27.

As part of their preparations, Ghana will regroup in March for international friendlies against Austria and Germany before facing Mexico ahead of the tournament.
