Ghana Not Experiencing Load Shedding – Energy Minister Assures

Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has reiterated that Ghana is not undergoing load shedding and currently has enough electricity generation capacity to meet national demand.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Jinapor disclosed that he held a meeting with the leadership of key power sector agencies to review the state of electricity supply across the country.
He stressed that Ghana has gone more than ten months without load shedding and is not facing any power generation shortfall. He, however, acknowledged that some parts of Accra and Kumasi have recently experienced frequent power outages.
According to the Minister, the disruptions are the result of operational challenges within the power system and not due to inadequate electricity generation.
“These outages are due to operational challenges within the system and not because of insufficient power generation,” he explained.
He has therefore directed the relevant agencies to urgently submit a clear, time-bound plan to address the challenges and restore stable power supply to the affected areas.
Mr. Jinapor reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring reliable and uninterrupted electricity for all Ghanaians, assuring the public that steps are being taken to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.
