Music industry has made me an introvert – Gyakie

Ghanaian singer Gyakie has revealed how life in the music industry has transformed her from an outgoing, lively personality into an introvert.

In a video shared by Villa Official, the ‘Forever’ hitmaker explained that while she once enjoyed being outside and engaging with people, the constant scrutiny from cameras, bloggers and social media users has made her withdraw from public spaces.

“The music industry has made me an introvert. I used to be popping outside, I used to love going out. But it’s scary outside now. The next thing you know, you’re trending,” she said.

According to Gyakie, the fear of being misrepresented or going viral for the wrong reasons has forced her to find comfort in staying indoors.

She described her home as her “safe haven,” where she feels relaxed and surrounded by trusted people.

The Songbird lamented how social events have shifted from being fun gatherings to tense spaces where people attend merely to find faults.

Gyakie noted that public appearances often demand unnatural restraint.

“Sometimes you’re not allowed to be human because any random thing you do could end up online. You might even forget yourself and do something natural, but before you know it, someone has pulled out their phone and started recording,” the singer added.
