Nation bids farewell to highlife legend Dada KD

Ghanaians from all walks of life gathered at the forecourt of the State House on Saturday in a solemn and emotional farewell to celebrated Highlife musician Emmanuel Harris Brefo, affectionately known as Dada KD.

The 54-year-old singer, whose melodious voice and timeless songs earned him a place among Ghana’s music greats, was laid to rest months after his passing in May 2025 following a brief illness.

The funeral drew hundreds of mourners, including musicians, politicians, traditional leaders, business magnates, government officials and devoted fans who came together to pay their final respects.

The atmosphere was heavy with grief as tributes were read in honour of the man whose artistry touched countless lives across generations.

Following the memorial service at the State House, the late musician’s remains were conveyed to his hometown, Agona Asamang in the Ashanti Region, where the burial and thanksgiving service were scheduled to take place on Sunday, 21 September 2025.
