Black Queens coach Kim Bjorkegren hails team after reaching WAFCON quarter-final

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has praised the togetherness and fighting spirit of his squad following their emphatic victory over Tanzania.
Ghana wrapped up the group stage of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with an impressive 4–1 win against the East African side on Monday night at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
The victory came after a difficult start to the tournament, which saw the Black Queens suffer a 2–0 defeat to defending champions South Africa and settle for a 1–1 draw against Mali.
Speaking to CAF Media after the game, Björkegren highlighted the importance of the team’s unity both on and off the field.
“We played as a team, and this has been crucial for us on and off the pitch,” the Swedish tactician said.
Goals from Princella Adubea, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah sealed the dominant result, securing second place in the group standings and a spot in the quarter-finals.
Ghana will now face Algeria in the quarter-finals on Saturday, July 19, at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
