Kumasi, Tamale Airports extend operating hours

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) have announced extended operational hours at two major regional airports—Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi and Tamale International Airport—effective June 1, 2025.

Prempeh I International Airport will now remain open until 11 p.m., a three-hour extension from its previous closing time of 8 p.m. Meanwhile, Tamale International Airport will extend its operations until 10 p.m., up from 6 p.m. The move is aimed at improving accessibility and convenience for travelers using these key airports.

A joint statement from the GCAA and GACL confirmed that a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued to all airlines operating in Ghana to inform them of the changes. Domestic airlines have also been advised to adjust their flight schedules accordingly and increase flight frequency to and from both airports to maximize the benefits of the new operational hours.

The extended hours are expected to facilitate smoother travel experiences for passengers, especially those on late-evening flights or with tight connections. It also aligns with efforts to boost regional connectivity and support economic growth by making air travel more flexible.

Members of the public and travel agencies are encouraged to take note of the updated operational hours and plan their travel arrangements accordingly.
