OB Amponsah sweeps 2025 Ghana comedy awards
Renowned Ghanaian comedian OB Amponsah emerged as the biggest winner at the 2025 Ghana Comedy Awards, further cementing his status as one of the country’s most influential comedic figures.
He was named Stand-up Comedian of the Year, the most prestigious individual award of the night. His landmark 10th anniversary show, OB Amponsah Live at the Bukom Arena, also won Comedy Special of the Year.
The 2025 edition of the Ghana Comedy Awards recognised both rising and established talents, highlighting the continued growth and evolution of Ghana’s comedy industry. OB Amponsah’s multiple wins reflect his consistency, creativity, and ability to connect with diverse audiences across platforms.
In his acceptance speech, the comedian dedicated the award to his fellow comedians, acknowledging their belief in the future of Ghanaian comedy. He also expressed appreciation to key collaborators who supported his anniversary event, particularly Kofi Adinkra and the Africa Arts Network, for their role in bringing the Bukom Arena show to life. The Bukom Arena event, which celebrated a decade of OB Amponsah’s contributions to Ghanaian comedy, received widespread acclaim for its originality, humor, and emotional depth.
