Agradaa under fire for dismissing ¢20m defamation case

A video of Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as ‘Agradaa’, making her first court appearance in a defamation suit filed by gospel musician Empress Gifty has gone viral and stirred widespread reactions on social media.
The footage, which surfaced days after the initial filing, shows Agradaa dressed in an all-white outfit, accompanied by her husband in a navy blue suit, as the couple exited the Tema High Court. The appearance follows a GH¢20 million defamation lawsuit filed by Empress Gifty on May 20, 2025, in response to alleged defamatory comments made by Agradaa.
Shortly after the suit became public, Agradaa took to social media to downplay its significance, stating that “any idiot can go to court” — a comment that quickly drew widespread attention and criticism online.
What drew even more public scrutiny was a moment in the viral video allegedly showing Agradaa and her husband discarding the court’s writ of summons on the ground as they left the premises. The act has been widely condemned, with many social media users describing it as disrespectful to the judicial system. Calls have since intensified online for the judiciary to take appropriate action against the couple, with commentators stressing the need to uphold the dignity and integrity of the court.
