Nurudeen Abdulai eyes spot in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup Squad

By Victor Kwawu

Ghana’s World Cup qualification continues to attract both domestic and foreign-based players. Dunfermline’s new signing, centre-back Nurudeen Abdulai, believes consistent performances for his Scottish side can earn him a place in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

Abdulai, who joined Dunfermline from Medeama in September, has impressed since getting his opportunity in the team.

After a five-week wait as an unused substitute, he excelled against Queen’s Park on 4 October and has since kept three clean sheets.

The player is focused on the bigger picture, stating: “Playing for Dunfermline is a big platform for me. My country can always call me at any time. I need to improve more so that I can get called up for the World Cup.”

Abdulai is confident that his performances in Scotland are being monitored in Ghana, citing the country’s keen interest in various European leagues. He previously made Ghana’s squad for the World Cup qualifiers, although he was an unused substitute on three occasions.

“I am very happy that my country has qualified for the World Cup, and it is a big thing for me. When I perform well here, I think I will get a call-up to the World Cup. It motivates me to perform well and earn a national team call-up,” he said.
