GOLDBOD CEO sues Afia Schwarzenegger for defamation

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD), Sammy Gyamfi, has filed a defamation lawsuit against controversial media personality Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, widely known as Afia Schwarzenegger.

The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, demands GHS10 million in damages for defamatory statements allegedly made by the defendant.

According to the suit, Gyamfi is seeking general and exemplary damages, as well as a restraining order to prevent Schwarzenegger from making further comments about him.

The legal action follows a video shared on Schwarzenegger’s social media platforms in which she allegedly accused the GOLDBOD CEO of infidelity.

In his filing, Mr. Gyamfi insists the claims are false and were made with the intent to damage his reputation. He is requesting several reliefs from the court.

These include general damages for defamation of character, exemplary damages amounting to GHS10 million, a perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from making further defamatory statements, and a public retraction and unqualified apology.

The apology is to be published on the front and back pages of the Daily Graphic for three consecutive editions and on TikTok and all other platforms where the alleged defamatory statements were originally posted with equal prominence.

The case has sparked widespread conversation on social media, with many expressing differing opinions on the responsibilities of public figures and the consequences of unverified claims.
