Sarkodie hails Edem as one of Ghana’s greatest rappers
Ghanaian rap heavyweight Sarkodie took a trip down memory lane, sharing his first impression of fellow rapper Edem, whom he described as one of his all-time favorite artistes.
In a post on social media platform X on July 23, 2025, the multiple award-winning rapper praised Edem for his lasting impact on Ghana’s music industry and recalled the moment he recognized Edem’s potential.
“Undoubtedly one of the greatest albums in Ghana’s music history! I remember when I first encountered my brother @iamedem. I came back home to tell one of my hommies that this guy will have a serious impact on the music scene,” Sarkodie wrote.
According to the ‘Non-Living Thing’ hitmaker, his conviction about Edem’s greatness was met with skepticism from a friend who doubted Edem’s potential due to his choice of language and unique style.
However, Sarkodie said he ignored those doubts.
“He was like ‘naa’ because of the language barrier. I said I don’t hear language, I hear greatness! Big up my brother, you’re still on my fav MC list,” he added.
Fans quickly flooded the comment section, echoing admiration for both rappers and the mutual respect they share.
Edem, is known for rapping predominantly in Ewe and blending traditional rhythms with modern hip-hop elements.
