Investment in Regions Key to Job Creation – Entrepreneurs Foundation

The Founder and Chairman of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana, Sam Ato Gaisie, has called for deliberate investment across Ghana’s regions to drive industrialisation, create sustainable jobs and ease the growing economic and population pressure on Accra.

Speaking at the Made in Ghana Business Summit 2026 in Accra, Mr Gaisie said government must adopt policies that encourage businesses to establish factories, agro-processing plants, logistics hubs, technology centres and service industries in all regions to unlock their economic potential.

Addressing participants on the theme, “Unlocking Regional Potential: Driving Industrialisation, Youth Entrepreneurship, Job Creation and Made in Ghana Prosperity,” he stressed that balanced regional development would create employment opportunities closer to where people live, strengthen local supply chains, lower business operating costs and promote inclusive national growth.

Mr Gaisie observed that economic activities have remained heavily concentrated in Accra for decades, placing enormous strain on the capital’s infrastructure and public services. He pointed to worsening traffic congestion, housing shortages, environmental degradation and recurring flooding as evidence of the urgent need to decentralise investment and economic activities.

He noted that Ghana is richly endowed with fertile agricultural land, mineral resources, tourism attractions, strategic locations and a youthful population spread across the country. According to him, these resources should be harnessed to drive industrialisation and economic transformation instead of forcing young people to migrate to Accra in search of limited employment opportunities.

Mr Gaisie urged young people to view the regions as centres of opportunity, highlighting agribusiness, agro-processing, manufacturing, tourism, creative industries, digital innovation and green enterprises as sectors with significant potential for entrepreneurship and wealth creation.

He further stated that each region possesses unique comparative advantages that can be developed into thriving economic hubs capable of attracting both domestic and foreign investment.

The Entrepreneurs Foundation Chairman also called for stronger collaboration between government, the private sector, development partners, financial institutions and international investors to improve infrastructure, expand access to finance and implement policies that encourage businesses to invest beyond the national capital.

He said such efforts would build a more balanced economy where every region contributes meaningfully to national development, businesses flourish nationwide and young people can build successful careers in their hometowns. He added that increased regional investment would also strengthen the competitiveness of Made in Ghana products on the global market while promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
