MobileMoney Fintech Limited Reports Strong Q1

MTN MobileMoney Fintech Limitedhas held its Extraordinary General Meeting for 2026, bringing together shareholders, board members, and key stakeholders to review the company’s financial performance and outline future plans. The meeting provided a platform for management to share updates on revenue growth, dividend payouts, and strategies to strengthen innovation and governance in the telecommunications and fintech sectors.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the Chief Executive Officer of MobileMoney Fintech Limited, Shaibu Haruna, said Mobile Money revenue for Q1 reached about 1.7 billion Ghana cedis. This represents a 28.4 percent year on year growth, which translated into higher profits and dividends for shareholders.
Mr. Haruna explained that the company has moved from half year dividend payments to quarterly payouts, a change aimed at giving shareholders more regular returns. He emphasized that the 30 pesewas per share declared is an interim dividend and reflects the company’s strong performance in the first quarter. “This is an interim dividend, and it shows the strength of our business,” he said.
The CEO assured stakeholders that MTN MobileMoney Fintech Limited will continue to deliver strong services by driving innovation and working closely with partners. He said the company is committed to enhancing customer experience, expanding its ecosystem, and introducing new solutions to meet market needs.
Mr. Haruna also addressed the growing challenge of digital fraud in Ghana’s financial technology space. He explained that MTN MobileMoney Fintech Limited is working with ecosystem actors to combat fraud and protect customers. “It’s something we have taken on very strongly, and we will continue to work collectively to address this menace,” he stressed.
He pointed to the recent release of MTN Ghana’s white paper on digital fraud as proof of the company’s commitment. The document outlines strategies and recommendations to reduce fraud and strengthen trust in digital financial services.
According to Mr. Haruna, fighting fraud is not only critical for MTN MobileMoney Fintech Limited but also for the wider industry. He said collaboration among stakeholders is essential to safeguard customers and ensure the long term growth of the digital economy.
