Nana Aba Anamoah Threatens CID Action Over Resurfaced BlacVolta Posts

Nana Aba Anamoah has threatened to escalate the controversy surrounding resurfaced posts linked to the BlacVolta account to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), following an apology from BlacVolta founder Joseph Adjei.
The backlash erupted after old posts from 2010 and 2011 resurfaced online. The posts, originally shared from Adjei’s former personal account before it later became the official BlacVolta account, were widely criticised by social media users as rape jokes and insensitive comments about sexual violence.
In a post on X, Nana Aba Anamoah strongly rejected part of Adjei’s apology statement, particularly his commitment to engage organisations focused on gender-based violence awareness and women’s empowerment.
“The worst part of your statement is… ‘Moving forward, I will take the initiative to personally engage with organizations in Ghana focused on raising awareness of gender-based violence, women’s empowerment, and the importance of our digital footprints,’” she wrote.
“No. You won’t do that.”
In a separate post, the broadcaster directly tagged the BlacVolta account while drawing the attention of the CID boss to the matter, signalling a possible formal complaint.
“Herh @BlacVolta, I’m drawing the attention of the CID boss @lydiadonkor13 to your tweets and that silly statement,” she posted.
The controversy has since sparked widespread debate online, with opinions divided over accountability, public apologies, and whether individuals should continue to face consequences for past social media activity years later.
Shortly after the backlash intensified, Joseph Adjei issued a public apology, acknowledging the resurfaced posts and expressing regret over the comments
