Fido, Uber Partner to Offer Quick Loans for Drivers

Digital credit provider Fido has forged a strategic partnership with Uber to deliver fast, flexible and driver-centric financing solutions to Uber drivers across the country.

Under the agreement, eligible drivers can obtain instant loans of up to GH₵10,000 via Fido’s fully digital platform. The offering is designed to reflect the realities of on-the-road entrepreneurship, providing rapid approval, no collateral requirements and minimal paperwork.

In line with Fido’s responsible lending approach, new borrowers start with smaller limits and gradually access higher amounts by demonstrating consistent repayment.

Since its launch in December 2025, the collaboration has recorded strong uptake among drivers, highlighting early market acceptance within Ghana’s expanding ride-hailing sector. The initiative, exclusively for Uber drivers, aims to strengthen financial resilience in a segment traditionally underserved by formal credit providers.

By combining Uber’s global mobility expertise with Fido’s end-to-end digital lending capabilities, the partnership provides drivers with tailored access to working capital, helping improve daily cash flow and support more sustainable income opportunities on the platform.

Beyond loans, qualifying drivers can access Fido’s wider range of financial services, including complimentary insurance cover, discounted airtime and data top-ups, and flexible savings through EasySave, offered in partnership with Access Bank.

EasySave offers more attractive returns than treasury bills while allowing fee-free withdrawals on any day, promoting disciplined savings while addressing day-to-day emergencies an approach suited to commercial driving realities.

Jada Badu, Country Manager for Uber Ghana, said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to driver welfare and economic empowerment.

“Through Fido, we are giving drivers on our platform access to credit that is quick, transparent, and tailored to their business needs. This enables drivers to manage daily operations, maintain their vehicles, and remain active on the road with confidence. Ultimately, it helps them earn more consistently and sustainably.”

Philip Twum, Head of Business Development at Fido, explained that the partnership advances financial inclusion for Ghana’s informal and semi-formal workforce.

“Via Uber’s platform, we reach digitally engaged entrepreneurs who face hurdles with traditional banking, including lack of formal credit history and cumbersome documentation. Our machine learning-powered underwriting model enables responsible instant credit while encouraging long-term financial discipline.”

Fido emphasized that the collaboration aligns with its mission to empower individuals and entrepreneurs to seize opportunities in Africa. The partnership demonstrates both companies’ commitment to using technology to unlock inclusive financial services for drivers in Ghana and sets the foundation for continued support of the ride-hailing workforce.
