Black Princesses Depart for South Africa Ahead of Crucial World Cup Qualifier

Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team has departed Accra for Johannesburg ahead of their decisive FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
The Black Princesses will face their South African counterparts in the second leg of the third-round qualifier, following a 2-2 draw in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium last weekend. In that encounter, Ghana twice took the lead but were pegged back on both occasions, as South Africa fought from behind to secure a stalemate.
Determined to secure qualification to the next stage, head coach and his technical team have named a 20-player squad for the return fixture. The team left Accra on Tuesday evening, accompanied by members of the technical and management staff.
The second leg promises to be a tightly contested affair, with both sides aiming to capitalise on their chances and avoid defensive lapses that proved costly in the first meeting.
Saturday’s clash is scheduled for February 14, 2026, at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, South Africa. The winner over the two legs will progress to the next stage of the qualification campaign, keeping alive their hopes of securing a place at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
