Education Minister Donates GH₵100,000 to Ga Mantse’s Education Fund
The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has donated GH₵100,000 to the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, to support the Ga Mantse’s Education Fund, aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for children and youth within the Ga State.
The fund is designed to provide scholarships, learning materials, and other forms of academic support to students from vulnerable backgrounds in the Greater Accra Region. The donation was made during a courtesy call on the Ga Traditional Council on Monday, January 26, 2026, as part of the minister’s ongoing engagement with traditional authorities to strengthen partnerships in advancing education nationwide.
Speaking at the event, Minister Iddrisu emphasised that investment in education is a national priority. He noted that access to quality learning opportunities is fundamental to Ghana’s development and that traditional institutions play a crucial role in mobilising communities to support literacy, school enrolment, and skills development.
“This support is part of our broader effort to ensure that no child is left behind. Community-based initiatives such as the Ga Mantse’s Education Fund complement government programmes in expanding access to education, particularly for the most vulnerable,” he said.
Minister Iddrisu added that collaboration between government and traditional authorities is key to creating inclusive educational opportunities and fostering local ownership of development initiatives.
Responding, the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, expressed gratitude to the minister for the generous donation. He lauded the government’s commitment to education and pledged the continued support of the Ga Traditional Council in promoting initiatives that improve learning outcomes in the region.
“We are grateful for this partnership and the support it brings to our youth. Together, we can ensure that children in our community receive the education they need to thrive and contribute positively to society,” the Ga Mantse said.
The Education Fund is expected to channel the donation toward scholarships, school supplies, and other educational interventions, strengthening the government’s broader efforts to expand access to quality education across Ghana.
This contribution reflects a growing collaboration between government institutions and traditional authorities to address educational disparities and empower the next generation through targeted, community-based initiatives.
