President Mahama Pledges Continued Support for Security Services to Restore Peace

President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated the government’s commitment to collaborating closely with the security services to restore and maintain peace in conflict-prone areas, including Bawku.
The assurance came during the commissioning of Phase One of a 2,000-unit military barracks and the launch of a new fleet of vehicles for the Ghana Armed Forces at the West African Soldiers Social Activities (WASSA) 2025. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the operational capacity of the nation’s security forces.
President Mahama emphasized that the government remains steadfast in its support for the security services, providing them with the necessary resources to safeguard lives, protect property, and promote stability across the country.
“Peace and security are fundamental to national development. Your professional conduct during these operations has played a pivotal role in the relative calm being experienced in these areas today,” he stated.
The President praised the discipline, restraint, and professionalism demonstrated by the armed forces, noting that their commitment to high standards of military conduct deserves national recognition and admiration.
He further assured that the government will continue to consolidate the gains achieved, working in close partnership with the security services, traditional leaders, and local communities. “Let me assure you that government remains fully committed to maintaining and strengthening these efforts, to secure lasting peace in Bawku and other affected areas across the nation,” he added.
The commissioning of the military barracks and the deployment of the new fleet of vehicles underscore the administration’s dedication to enhancing the operational readiness of the armed forces. By bolstering infrastructure and logistics, the government aims to equip security personnel with the tools necessary to respond effectively to emerging security challenges, thereby reinforcing national stability and community safety.
President Mahama’s remarks highlight the crucial role of collaboration between the government, security services, and local stakeholders in promoting peace, with a view to ensuring that all regions of Ghana can enjoy a secure and stable environment conducive to development.
