Hilda Baci Clinches Third Guinness World Record After Jollof Rice Feat

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has achieved her third Guinness World Records (GWR) title, months after her widely celebrated jollof rice feat, further cementing her place as one of Africa’s most recognised culinary figures.

The latest recognition comes barely four months after Guinness World Records confirmed her record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, which she set during a nine-hour open-air cooking session in September 2025 at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. During the event, Baci prepared 200 portions of jollof rice using 20-kilogramme bags of rice.

In a post shared on her Instagram page, Baci revealed that Guinness World Records had now confirmed an additional record from the same attempt. The confirmation came via an email signed by Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering, Records Creative Team at GWR.

“Congratulations, you are officially amazing (again)!” the email read. “It has come to our attention that… you and your team attempted and achieved ‘Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice’ and also achieved the record title of ‘Largest serving of rice’. So you have been proactively awarded this record title, too.”

Reacting to the news, an emotional Baci described the achievement as a reminder that there can always be more beyond what one expects.

“I woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. What a way to step into 2026,” she said. “I was shocked and happy at the same time, completely caught off guard.”

She explained that she initially believed the jollof rice record was the final outcome of the event, only to discover months later that another record had been broken simultaneously.

“So what I thought was one record… turned out to be two. And now, officially, that makes three Guinness World Records in total,” she stated.

Baci attributed the success to God, whom she described as “consistently faithful,” and expressed gratitude to her team and collaborators. She singled out Oreoluwa Atinmo as a key figure in the journey.

“This vision and this record would not have been possible without her. We did this together from idea to execution,” she said.

She also thanked Guinness World Records and her supporters, noting that “every long day, meticulous effort, and determined push truly counted.”

Baci first entered the GWR spotlight in June 2023 after being recognised for the longest individual cooking marathon, a feat that launched her onto the global culinary stage.

However, her reign was short-lived, as Irish chef Alan Fisher later dethroned her by cooking continuously for 119 hours and 57 minutes, 24 hours longer than Baci’s record.
