GPL 2025/26: Asante Kotoko Stumble in Goalless Draw with GoldStars
Asante Kotoko extended their winless run in 2026 to three matches after being held to a goalless draw by Bibiani GoldStars in the Ghana Premier League.
Following a defeat to Swedru All Blacks and a previous scoreless draw with Berekum Chelsea, the Porcupine Warriors went into the encounter under pressure to secure a victory and revive their title ambitions. However, the stalemate dealt another blow to their campaign.
The dropped points leave Kotoko eight points behind league leaders Medeama, who strengthened their grip at the top with a victory over Vision FC in Saturday’s other fixture.
Kotoko pushed hard to avoid another draw, creating several scoring opportunities, but were repeatedly denied by GoldStars goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi, who turned in an outstanding performance. He produced a fine leg save to stop Morifing Donzo in the first half and, after the break, tipped over a looping effort from new signing Dogo Yakubu to keep the scores level.
Despite the setback, Kotoko remain third on 32 points and will look to claim their first win of the year when they face Basake Holy Stars in their next match.
GoldStars, meanwhile, stay second on 33 points and will turn their attention to their upcoming fixture against Berekum Chelsea.
