Majority of Ghanaians Say Living Conditions Have Improved – Global InfoAnalytics Survey

A nationwide tracking survey conducted by Global InfoAnalytics indicates that a majority of Ghanaians believe their living conditions have improved compared to a year ago, reflecting growing public confidence as the 2026 national budget begins to take effect.
According to the poll released on Monday, December 29, about 56 percent of respondents said their standard of living has improved over the past 12 months. Another 27 percent reported no change, while 12 percent said their living conditions had worsened. Five per cent of respondents said they were unsure.
Looking ahead, optimism remains strong, with 70 percent of voters expecting further improvements in their living standards in 2026. Only 18 per cent expressed a pessimistic outlook.
Public response to the 2026 budget, presented by Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, was largely positive. The survey found that 66 percent of respondents are satisfied with the budget, while 18 percent expressed dissatisfaction. The remaining 16 per cent said they were neutral.
The poll also assessed public perceptions of governance and accountability. Just over half of respondents, representing 56 per cent, believe the situation regarding corruption has improved, while 60 per cent think the government is doing enough to address the problem.
On illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, 47 percent of respondents said the situation has not worsened under the Mahama administration, including 43 per cent of respondents living in mining communities.
Overall, the findings suggest that recent economic policies, together with governance and anti-corruption efforts, are gaining public approval and reinforcing confidence in the country’s overall direction.
