Noah Nartey opts for Denmark over Ghana
While many foreign‑born Ghanaian players are looking to join the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will be co‑hosted by Mexico, Canada and the United States, Brondby IF midfielder Noah Nartey has made it clear that he has no plans to represent Ghana at senior national‑team level.
The talented youngster, who has Ghanaian roots, confirmed in an interview with Bold.dk that he has been approached about the possibility of representing Ghana but remains focused on his journey with the Danish national team.
“Of course, there is something with Ghana, and there has also been contact. But what I am focused on is playing for Denmark and qualifying for a very great and important European Championship. It’s Denmark that I have represented my entire life, and it’s them that I will continue to represent,” Nartey said.
Nartey, who has featured for Denmark at various youth levels, has been a standout performer for Brondby this season. The 20‑year‑old has scored four goals and provided three assists in 14 Danish Superliga appearances. His recent comments have shut the door on any chance of playing for Ghana’s Black Stars in the future.
Meanwhile, his older brother, Nikolas Nartey, has been called up to the Denmark squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Belarus and Scotland.
Noah Nartey’s decision could have future implications if ‘The Red‑White’ fails to offer him any opportunities at senior level.
