The Ministry of Health has commenced a nationwide initiative to ensure the fair and equitable distribution of doctors across all regions and districts in Ghana.
In a statement signed by the Head of Health Training Institutions and Spokesperson for the Ministry, Mr. Tonny Goodman, the exercise forms part of the government’s broader strategy to improve access to quality healthcare and strengthen human resource capacity within the health sector.
The Ministry urged newly recruited doctors to accept postings to available vacancies in regional and district hospitals, noting that the deployment process is being handled exclusively through its official online portal.
“No individual or group has been authorised to collect money or influence postings in any way. Eligible doctors are cautioned not to engage middlemen or pay any persons who promise to alter or fast-track their postings,” the statement stressed.
Mr. Goodman reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the recruitment and posting process, describing it as a crucial step toward equitable healthcare delivery across the country.
He explained that the initiative aligns with the government’s goal of achieving universal health coverage by ensuring that every Ghanaian, regardless of geographic location, has access to qualified medical professionals.
“All qualified doctors are encouraged to visit the Ministry of Health’s official website to complete their registration before the deadline indicated on the portal,” the statement added.
The Ministry further emphasised that the ongoing deployment exercise demonstrates the government’s determination to build a fair, transparent, and inclusive health system that serves the needs of all citizens.
