German President Cuts Sod for Green Tech Institute in Kumasi

The President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has officially cut sod to commence the construction of a €5.6 million Centre of Excellence for Green Technology at the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI).
The initiative is part of Ghana’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) transformation agenda and is poised to become a hub for innovation, research, and practical training in renewable energy and sustainable technologies.
“As part of President Mahama’s Reset Agenda, His Excellency Steinmeier, we are focusing on developing a TIVET policy and establishing a TVET fund to support the skills training of young people in order that they can make a meaningful contribution to our national development effort”, he stated.
At the ceremony, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu highlighted that the project supports the government’s “Reset Agenda” , which targets youth unemployment through skill development. He further emphasized the government’s commitment to developing a comprehensive TVET policy and establishing a dedicated TVET Fund to bolster technical and vocational institutions nationwide.
The official visit began on Monday with President Steinmeier receiving a full military Guard of Honour at the Presidency forecourt.
He and Ghanaian President Mahama held a private meeting before engaging in bilateral talks, focusing on enhancing Ghana-Germany cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and development.
