Education Ministry welcomes 590,000 new SHS students

The Ministry of Education has extended its congratulations and best wishes to about 590,000 first-year Senior High School (SHS) students who began reporting to their respective schools on Saturday, 18 October 2025. More students are expected to arrive by Monday, 20 October 2025.
In a statement signed by Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Minister for Education, the Ministry described this period as a significant milestone in the academic journey of the students and a new chapter in their educational pursuit.
It encouraged the new students to approach this phase of their lives with dedication, discipline and enthusiasm, adding that their commitment would be key to their success.
The Ministry also commended parents and guardians for their patience and cooperation throughout the school placement process, while announcing that placement and residential allocations for the 2025/2026 academic year have officially closed.
Parents and guardians have been urged to visit their assigned schools to complete enrolment formalities and ensure that their wards settle in smoothly as academic activities commence.
Reaffirming its commitment to providing quality, equitable and inclusive education for all Ghanaian children, the Ministry assured the public that every effort is being made to ensure a smooth and successful start to the new academic year across the country.
The statement concluded with a warm welcome to all new SHS students, wishing them success in both their academic and personal development.
