Nutrifoods resumes production of Tasty Tom after FDA approval

Nutrifoods Ghana Limited has announced the resumption of production and distribution of its popular Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix, following a comprehensive evaluation and approval by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
The company, a joint venture between Olam and Sanyo, disclosed that the FDA’s review reaffirmed that Tasty Tom products meet all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
In a press statement, Nutrifoods Ghana explained that the move follows a precautionary recall initiated in August under the FDA’s supervision, after some batches of the product failed to meet the company’s “high internal standards”.
“This responsible measure reflected our deep commitment to our consumers and our readiness to act decisively to preserve the safety and quality of our products,” the statement noted.
According to Nutrifoods, the FDA-led evaluation involved a thorough inspection of its factory operations and quality control systems.
The company also implemented additional safety measures in line with FDA recommendations, including extended incubation protocols and enhanced process controls to strengthen its quality assurance systems.
“The review reaffirmed that our production systems and products are fully compliant with the highest standards and regulatory requirements.
“This reflects our long-standing promise to deliver food made with integrity, safety, and our core values of responsibility, transparency, and consumer trust,” the statement stressed.
Nutrifoods Ghana expressed appreciation to consumers for their patience and trust during the temporary recall period, and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
“For over a decade, Tasty Tom has been a trusted part of everyday cooking in Ghana. We are pleased to announce that Tasty Tom products are now available for consumers to enjoy,” the statement added.
