IPR Ghana urges positive use of communication, AI for social good

The Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana has called for concerted efforts to tackle inequalities, injustice, and environmental pollution through the use of communication tools and artificial intelligence (AI).

According to the Institute, effectively using communication and its available channels to address pressing societal issues will go a long way in curbing some of the challenges facing Ghana and the wider world.

Speaking at the PR knowledge-sharing conference under the theme ‘Global Realities and Innovative Communication’ on Friday, 3 October 2025, held in Accra, IPR Ghana President Esther Amba Numaba Cobbah highlighted the importance of communication as a key tool for fostering cohesion and championing good causes for the greater good.

“When the last tree dies, the last man dies. When communication ceases, humanity will cease to exist. So we are important,” she said.

Madam Cobbah also emphasised the need to use AI positively to impact society in areas such as health, education, conflict resolution, and world peace.

She called on PR professionals to recognise the central role their work plays in building stronger societies.
Seasoned PR professionals from across Africa also convened to discuss how communication tools can be harnessed to promote world peace and address global challenges.

Discussions focused on using communication and AI to tackle environmental issues such as galamsey, waste management, and other pressing concerns.
