I was supposed to be a surprise artiste – Reggie Rockstone explains Rapperholic absence

By Samuella Antwi

Hiplife pioneer Reggie Rockstone has broken his silence on why he failed to mount the stage at Sarkodie’s highly anticipated Rapperholic Homecoming concert at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Saturday.

In a video shared on Instagram on 29th September 2025, the legendary musician dismissed rumours suggesting he was absent, clarifying that he was present backstage throughout the night.

According to Rockstone, he had been billed as a surprise act, set to join Sarkodie immediately after Obrafour’s historic joint performance with the rapper.

However, a last-minute technical hitch derailed the plan.

“The way Sarkodie and Obrafour performed is the same way I was going to perform with him. I was supposed to be a surprise artiste. Just when I was about to go on stage, I was told the file containing my performance track had become corrupt. I could hear the soundtrack, but I wasn’t up there,” Rockstone revealed.

He revealed that the collaboration with Sarkodie had been carefully scripted.

“All he was supposed to say on stage was that he wanted me to be there, and that was when I was supposed to pop up. Sark was hurt I couldn’t show up, but it was beyond our control.”

Despite the setback, Rockstone stayed backstage until dawn.

“I was supposed to be there for just five minutes. We didn’t anticipate the traffic, rain and all that came with the night, but God works in mysterious ways. I stood behind the DJ and watched everyone’s performance till 5 a.m.,” he said.

The 2025 Rapperholic Concert drew thousands of fans to the stadium despite heavy rains, with a star-studded line-up delivering electrifying performances.

Acts included Kofi Kinaata, Medikal, Shatta Wale, Efya, Beeztrap KOTM and several others who showed up to support Sarkodie.
