Idris Elba hails Lagos as world’s ‘most amazing city’

British actor Idris Elba has hailed Lagos as the “most amazing city in the world,” praising the vibrancy, creativity and talent he encountered during his time in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
The award-winning actor, producer and DJ shared his admiration while walking the red carpet at the TIFF Tribute Awards in Toronto, in an interview with Canadian entertainment channel eTalk TV.
“There are so many memories. Lagos, if you have never been there, is the most amazing place, city in the world. I had a great time. The talent there is incredible,” Elba said with visible enthusiasm.
Reflecting on standout moments, Elba highlighted his collaboration with British-Nigerian singer Seal, born Henry Olusegun Samuel, who took on an acting role in a film project while embracing his Nigerian heritage.
“I got to have Seal acting. He has acted before, but this is one he is acting in his accent. You know, his Nigerian heritage. That was a real blessing,” Elba noted.
The actor further revealed that a special musical moment crowned the experience, a song written for the film and performed live by Seal alongside rising Nigerian talent Konstance.
Elba, whose mother hails from Ghana and father from Sierra Leone, has in recent years deepened his ties to Africa, championing creative industries across the continent.
