Monday, Sept 22 declared public holiday
The Ministry of the Interior has officially declared Monday, 22 September 2025, a public holiday across Ghana.
In a statement signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the government announced that although Founder’s Day, marked annually on 21 September, is a statutory holiday, this year it falls on a Sunday.
To ensure nationwide observance, the President of the Republic has authorised an Executive Instrument (E.I) under Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), declaring the following Monday as an additional holiday.
Ghanaians are therefore expected to observe Monday, 22 September, as a public holiday in honour of Founder’s Day.
