Don’t make excuses, deliver results — Greater Accra Minister warns MMDCEs

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has warned Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region to focus on delivering results rather than making excuses.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, 28 August 2025, Ms Ocloo said the performance of all MMDCEs will now be strictly assessed based on three priority areas: sanitation, streetlights and the enforcement of by-laws.

“Your performance will be based on three clear areas: sanitation, streetlights and enforcement of by-laws. This will be documented in my report to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and forwarded to the presidency,” she said.

The Minister also urged residents to play their part in maintaining order in the capital.

She called on the public to report faulty streetlights, stop indiscriminate refuse dumping and desist from mounting unauthorised billboards.

Ms Ocloo further issued a strong warning to individuals who steal metal parts from public streets and sell them to scrap dealers, stressing that offenders would face severe consequences.

“To the public, I call on all residents to report faulty lights for quick action. Take responsibility for sanitation, avoid indiscriminate dumping and assist security agencies in protecting public infrastructure. And to those who steal metals from our streets and sell them, you are warned to desist from this act,” she cautioned.

According to the Regional Minister, residents are demanding action, not rhetoric.

“The people of this region are tired of words. They want results and they want them now,” she stressed
