Justice Pwamang to act as Chief Justice during Baffoe-Bonnie’s absence

The Acting Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has formally announced that he will be away from duty from Monday, 18 August to Thursday, 28 August 2025.

During his absence, the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court, His Lordship Justice Gabriel Pwamang, will assume the role of Acting Chief Justice.

This arrangement was communicated through an official circular dated 13 August 2025, which was distributed to all Justices of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and High Court.

The notice also reached heads of divisions and units, members of the Judicial Council, the General Legal Council and the Acting Judicial Secretary.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, who has been serving in the interim capacity since the retirement of his predecessor, extended his compliments to colleagues in the judiciary and affirmed Justice Pwamang’s temporary leadership during the period.

Justice Pwamang, known for his depth of legal reasoning and commitment to judicial independence, is expected to steer the affairs of the judiciary, until Justice Baffoe-Bonnie returns.
