State to hold funeral for helicopter crash victims today

The government has released full details for the funeral of the eight victims of the 6 August helicopter crash in Adansi Akrufuom.
The ceremony, scheduled for today, Friday, 15 August 2025, will be conducted as a full military service by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Dogbe, speaking at a press conference yesterday, 14 August 2025, outlined that the funeral will unfold in three stages. It will begin with Bible and Qur’an recitals, followed by the main service, and conclude with the burial of the victims.
The pre-burial programme is set to start at 7.30 a.m. and end at 9.00 a.m.
The Vice President is expected to arrive at 8.50 a.m., with President John Dramani Mahama scheduled to arrive at 9.00 a.m. to officially commence the state service.
According to Mr Dogbe, the three-hour ceremony will include the reading of biographies for all eight victims, paying tribute to their lives and contributions.
Tributes will also be delivered by widows, children, government officials and representatives of various institutions.
The Ghana Armed Forces will lead the full military honours, ensuring that the ceremony reflects the solemnity and national significance of the loss.
Security and protocol arrangements have been finalised to facilitate the smooth conduct of the event, with both state and family members expected to participate.
The funeral follows a tragic incident on 6 August 2025, when a helicopter crash claimed eight lives, prompting nationwide mourning.
Officials have urged members of the public to respect the privacy of the bereaved families and to cooperate with authorities during the proceedings.
