MoFA cautions public against fake agric grant scheme

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) is cautioning the public to steer clear of a fraudulent online grant scheme targeting small and medium-scale agribusinesses.

In a statement issued in Accra, the Ministry clarified that it has no affiliation whatsoever with the so-called “Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative 2025,” currently being circulated online.

The publication falsely invites agribusinesses to register with an entity named the Global Farmers Association, reportedly based in Nairobi, Kenya, in exchange for a certificate of accreditation.

MoFA said the website, email address, and contact numbers linked to the scheme are entirely unaffiliated with the Ministry and should be ignored.

Officials described the initiative as a scam designed to defraud unsuspecting farmers and agribusiness operators.

The Ministry is urging the public, particularly those in the agriculture sector, not to engage with the scheme in any form. The statement emphasized that deceptive online platforms are being used to lure victims under the guise of offering government-backed agricultural support.

MoFA noted that it is actively working to trace the origin of the fake information and collaborate with relevant authorities to prevent its further spread.

In the meantime, the Ministry is encouraging the public to verify official agricultural support programs only through its website or recognized communication channels.

MoFA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting genuine agribusiness development while protecting the public from fraudulent schemes.
