Man jailed 14 years for armed robbery, assault

The Central East Regional Police Command has secured the conviction of a 25-year-old man, Kolie Samuel, for robbery and causing harm following a swift, intelligence-led investigation.
The incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, July 10, 2025, at about 5:30 a.m. near Golden Pride Preparatory School in Millennium City, Gomoa East District.
The suspect, Kolie Samuel, attacked a female victim and made away with her handbag containing an iPhone 16 Pro Max and a purse with an unspecified amount of cash.
Acting on intelligence and with assistance from the victim, police investigators tracked Kolie Samuel to his hideout in Ngleshie Amanfro, a suburb of Accra, on the same day of the incident.
A search conducted during his arrest led to the recovery of the stolen iPhone and several other electronic gadgets and personal items believed to be proceeds from other robbery operations.
Among the items retrieved were a Dell laptop, two Itel mobile phones, a Nokia phone, an Alcatel mobile phone, a Vodafone Wi-Fi device, two pairs of AirPods, a gold necklace, three wristwatches, a ladies’ purse, a wallet containing a health insurance card bearing the name Kwapong Sahnan, and ten memory cards.
After investigations, the suspect appeared before the Ofaakor Circuit Court on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, to be formally charged.
He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for robbery and an additional 5 years for causing harm. Both sentences will run concurrently.
The Central East Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its dedication to combating crime and ensuring public safety.
