CBG donates books to empower Takoradi students

Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) has donated over 700 Ghanaian-authored books to the Assorku Essaman Cluster of Schools in Takoradi as part of its flagship literacy campaign, ‘Formative Learning with CBG.’
The donation included storybooks and ‘My First Copy Books’ covering Book One to Book Three, aimed at supporting early education and promoting reading among young learners.
Dr. Naomi Worlali Kwetey, Managing Director of Consolidated Bank Ghana Ltd., led the donation and emphasized the bank’s commitment to investing in the education and development of future leaders through literacy.
“We are not just donating books; we are investing in the dreams and futures of every child present. Every great dreamer started as a reader, and the knowledge you gain today will empower you to shape your future,” Dr. Kwetey said.
She also commended the teachers for their vital role in nurturing young minds and contributing to a more empowered society.
Madam Rita Baidoo, headmistress of the school, expressed gratitude to CBG, noting that the books would have a significant positive impact on the students’ academic performance.
The event was attended by CBG’s Deputy Managing Director, Madam Sheila Azuntaba, and Head of Corporate Communications, Madam Mavis Frempong, who engaged in classroom reading sessions with the pupils.
Following the donation, Dr. Kwetey visited CBG branches in the Western and Central regions to meet staff and better understand their operations.
The ‘Formative Learning with CBG’ initiative targets schools in underserved communities and is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility strategy, which focuses on education, health, and community development.
All books distributed under the program were locally sourced from the Ghana Publishing Company and Afram Publications Limited, ensuring culturally relevant and age-appropriate content.
The initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 4—Quality Education and reinforces CBG’s commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable access to learning across Ghana.
