Cape Coast to host Ghana’s first amusement park

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has announced plans to build the country’s first amusement park in Cape Coast.

The initiative was revealed by Maame Efua Houadjeto, CEO of the GTA, during the 2025 Ghana-China Business Summit.

According to Ms. Houadjeto, the project aims to transform Cape Coast into a leading tourist destination, not only within Ghana but across the African continent.

“We want to create the first amusement park in Ghana, and we are looking at Cape Coast. We want to create the very first state-of-the-art amusement park to add to our tourism destinations,” she said.

In addition to the amusement park, the GTA is also focusing on developing eco-tourism infrastructure.

Ms. Houadjeto called on local and international investors to support the construction of eco-friendly lodges at key natural sites such as Kakum and Mole National Parks.

“We also have Kakum National Park; there is forest conservation going on there, so I would like people to support us when it comes to building some eco-lodges in that area,” the GTA CEO noted.

Discussions are already underway with investors interested in supporting these projects.

“I am already talking to a few people who have shown interest in putting together some eco-lodges in these places. We are looking at eco-lodges at Mole National Park and Kakum National Park,” she disclosed.

As part of a broader strategy to enhance tourism infrastructure, the GTA is also planning to build new event centers in Accra and the Central Region.

“We are also looking at expanding the space when it comes to event centers. We plan to put one together in the Central Region and one in Accra,” Ms. Houadjeto further revealed.
