Hajia 4Reall completes U.S. Prison sentence

Ghanaian socialite and musician Mona Faiz Montrage, popularly known as Hajia 4Reall, is set to regain her freedom today following the completion of a prison sentence in the United States for her role in a high-profile romance scam case.

The 32-year-old influencer has been held at the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she served a sentence of one year and one day. Her release, confirmed through the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons’ inmate locator, marks a significant turning point in a case that captivated both Ghanaian and international audiences.

Montrage’s legal troubles began when she was arrested in 2022 in connection with a West Africa-based criminal enterprise involved in internet fraud and romance scams. In June 2024, she was convicted on charges of conspiracy to receive stolen money. U.S. prosecutors revealed that the scheme targeted vulnerable individuals — particularly elderly victims — using false identities and emotional manipulation to extract money.

During her sentencing hearing on June 28, 2024, her legal team negotiated a self-deportation agreement, meaning she would voluntarily return to Ghana upon her release. Reports indicate that preparations for her return have already been made, with sources close to her confirming that she will be touching down in Accra within the next few days.

The announcement of her release has sparked mixed reactions among Ghanaians, particularly on social media. While some have expressed sympathy and welcomed her homecoming, others are questioning whether she deserves a return to fame and influence — especially given the nature of her crimes.
“She made a mistake, served her time, and deserves a second chance,” one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Others, however, have been less forgiving. “We must be careful who we celebrate. Her actions caused real harm,” another user wrote.

Before her legal troubles, Hajia 4Reall was a prominent figure in Ghana’s entertainment scene, known for her lavish lifestyle, fashion influence, and music career. Her last major release, prior to her arrest, enjoyed moderate success and earned her a loyal fan base.

Industry watchers say her return could spark a controversial yet potentially lucrative comeback — but that depends on how she navigates public opinion and whether she publicly addresses the scandal.

As Ghana awaits her arrival, the big question remains: Will Hajia 4Reall seek redemption and a fresh start, or attempt to reclaim her place in the limelight despite her tainted past?
