GTA urges Tema hotels to stop illegal activities, protect guests

The Tema Regional Office of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has warned hoteliers in Tema and surrounding areas to help stop illegal activities within the metropolis.
Mr. Isaac Asiam, GTA Director for Tema, spoke at a stakeholder meeting organized by the Ghana Progressive Hotels Association (GHAPROHA) on human trafficking. He stressed that the Authority will enforce strict regulations on all hospitality facilities.
Mr. Asiam explained that the GTA handles the registration and licensing of hotels and will revoke licenses and shut down any facilities that fail to comply with the rules.
He urged hotels to maintain high standards and ensure minors are not allowed on their premises without proper supervision.
The Director also called for cooperation with security agencies to fight human trafficking and warned that all receptive facilities must register with relevant agencies or face penalties.
Security remains a top priority, he said, emphasizing that the safety of genuine tourists and patrons must never be compromised.
Mr. Asiam added that with collaboration, Tema can become a safe and attractive destination for tourists and other events.
