DVLA sets 14-day deadline for mining, construction equipment ownership transfers

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has issued a directive requiring that all mining and construction equipment be officially transferred to the new owner within 14 days of sale, in accordance with existing laws.
In a press release dated June 17, 2025, the authority emphasized that failure to comply with this requirement could lead to legal action and other sanctions.
“The authority wishes to inform all dealers and owners of mining and construction equipment that it is mandatory to notify the authority of a change in ownership of such equipment within fourteen (14) days after sale,” the statement said.
The DVLA raised concerns about the widespread failure by individuals and businesses to register changes in ownership, calling it a major regulatory and operational challenge.
The authority is urged all stakeholders in the mining and construction sectors to ensure that ownership transfers are carried out promptly and in accordance with the law.
The DVLA warned that violators will face legal consequences and encouraged all affected parties to visit the nearest DVLA office to complete the necessary ownership transfer process.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the law and delivering efficient services to support Ghana’s transport and equipment regulation systems.
