Ghana’s Mpox cases hit 79
Thirty-four new cases of Mpox have been confirmed in Ghana, bringing the total number of cases to 79.
According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), four patients are currently hospitalized and under medical observation as health officials work to trace and isolate potential contacts.
More than 10 regions have now reported infections. In response, health authorities have heightened surveillance measures and are urging the public to remain vigilant.
Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, is a viral disease that spreads through close contact with infected humans or animals, as well as through contaminated materials.
Common symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, swollen lymph nodes, and a distinctive rash.
The GHS advises anyone experiencing these symptoms to immediately visit the nearest health facility for evaluation.
Meanwhile, contact tracing efforts continue in affected communities to prevent further transmission.
The GHS has assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to manage the outbreak and will provide updates as new information becomes available.
