Dancegod Lloyd recalls earning just ¢50 for a gig
Renowned Ghanaian dancer and choreographer Dancegod Lloyd has opened up about the highs and lows of his career, revealing both his most lucrative job and the smallest payment he has ever received.
In a recent media interview, the celebrated performer shared that his biggest financial breakthrough came from a contract with the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai.
“Going to Dubai to work with the UAE government—it brought me a lot of money. It changed my whole account. Seen bigger figures,” Dancegod Lloyd said, without disclosing the exact amount earned.
While that project marked a major milestone in his career, he also reflected on a humbler moment from his early days. Asked about the least he has been paid for a performance, he revealed he was once given just GH¢50. “The least is 50 cedis. I was given 50 cedis as compensation,” he recalled.
