Gov’t calls for accurate data in 2025 business survey
The Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, has called on businesses across Ghana to provide accurate and timely data ahead of the 2025 Ghana Integrated Business Establishment Survey II (IBES II). Scheduled for July to September, the survey aims to strengthen national economic planning and support Ghana’s development goals.
The exercise, set to run from July 10 to September 10, 2025, will provide vital information to inform investment decisions and contribute to initiatives such as the 24-hour economy. A report on the findings is expected by December 31, 2025.
Speaking at the 2025 IBES II training of trainers’ workshop in Winneba on Monday, Dr. Iddrisu urged all selected businesses nationwide to cooperate fully with enumerators. He stressed that the data collected would benefit the entire nation.
He emphasized the importance of providing accurate and timely data, in line with the Statistical Service Act, 2019 (Act 1003), which underpins national development efforts.
The survey will cover key sectors including transport and storage, accommodation and food services, telecommunications, computer programming, consultancy, computing infrastructure, real estate, administration, arts, sports, and recreation.
Dr. Iddrisu explained that the data from IBES II will estimate the value and structure of business operations, evaluate innovation in manufacturing, assess the impact of environmental goods and services, and document business challenges that affect productivity and competitiveness.
Additionally, the survey will provide benchmark data essential for rebasing Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the Producer Price Index (PPI), and the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). It will also measure sectoral and regional contributions to the national output.
Dr. Iddrisu called on trainers to prioritize excellence in planning, training, and execution, noting that their efforts would directly influence the work of the 3,200 field officers who will carry out the survey across the country.
