BlowChem slashes beverage prices as cedi strengthens

BlowChem Industries Limited, makers of Bel Aqua Mineral Water and a range of beverages, has announced price cuts on most of its products.

The reductions took effect on June 1, 2025. The company credits the reductions to the recent strong performance of the Ghana Cedi against major international currencies, which has improved the economic outlook and allowed them to offer more affordable prices to customers.

“In line with our commitment to fairness and transparency, we believe it is only right to pass these benefits on to you, our loyal customers,” the company said in a statement.

Describing the move as a first in the industry, BlowChem is setting the pace by responding swiftly to the positive economic changes.

The company has called on its distributors, wholesalers, and retailers to adopt the new pricing so consumers can enjoy the full benefit of the cuts.

BlowChem also thanked customers for their ongoing support and reaffirmed its dedication to serving them in both tough and prosperous times.

This price reduction comes amid mounting pressure on businesses nationwide to lower prices in response to the appreciating cedi.

In recent months, the cedi has gained significantly, especially against the US dollar, easing inflation and providing relief to importers and consumers alike.

Civil society groups, consumer advocates, and government officials have all urged companies to reflect this improved economic reality in their prices. However, many firms have been slow to respond, citing stock turnover and operational costs as challenges to immediate price adjustments.
