GoldBod extends license deadline

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has extended the deadline for gold traders to transition to its new licensing regime by one month, following strong appeals from stakeholders. The new deadline is now June 21, 2025.

Initially set for May 21, 2025, the extension allows individuals and entities operating under legacy licences to continue trading legally until the revised cut-off date. From June 22, 2025, only entities with a valid GoldBod licence will be authorized to engage in gold trading and export.

GoldBod warned that operating with a legacy licence beyond the deadline will be in breach of Act 1140 and subject to prosecution. The Board has also stripped export privileges from all licences issued by the defunct PMMC and Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, effective May 22, 2025. Stakeholders are advised to accelerate their licence applications to avoid legal complications. The Board has reiterated that June 21 is a final, non-negotiable date. Traders can visit the Ghana Gold Board’s offices or website for guidance and application support.
