Obrafour refutes Possigee’s ghostwriting claims on Sarkodie’s song ‘Hope’

Ghanaian sound engineer Possigee and veteran hiplife artiste Obrafour have found themselves at odds over a recent claim concerning the songwriting process behind Sarkodie’s song ‘Hope,’ which features Obrafour.

The disagreement began after Possigee posted a video on social media discussing the Ghanaian music industry and the practice of ghostwriting.

According to him, there is nothing wrong with artistes allowing others to write for them at various stages in their careers.

While illustrating his point, Possigee cited several examples, including Sarkodie allegedly writing for other artistes. Among the songs he mentioned was ‘Baby’ by Sarkodie featuring Mugeez. He further claimed that Sarkodie wrote part of Obrafour’s verse on ‘Hope.’

Hope, Sarkodie featuring Obrafour—ebi Sarkodie wey he write am wey he make Obrafour sing am, wey Obrafour join ein own,” Possigee said in a mixture of English and Pidgin.

Obrafour, who did not take kindly to the assertion, quickly denied the claim in the comment section of the video. The hiplife legend challenged the accuracy of the statement and expressed his displeasure.

“What kind of lie is this? Can you tell me which of my songs any ghostwriter wrote for me or Sark? Please don’t involve me in any of your clout-chasing nonsense. Respect yourself and lemme be in my corner,” Obrafour responded.

In reply, Possigee stood by his comment and clarified that he was not attempting to seek attention. He stated that he was present during the recording process and knew how the song came together.

“Obrafour, I am talking about Hope, Sarkodie ft. you… I recorded Sarkodie and the choir, and as you know, I have never been a clout chaser,” Possigee stated.

Despite the clarification, Obrafour reiterated his denial and urged Possigee to confirm his claims before making them public.

“Possigee, who said Sark wrote my hook? Get your facts right pls. Call him and ask, and don’t be misinforming,” he added.
