Two arrested for stabbing 20-year-old to death in Asankragwa

The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old man at Asankragwa on Sunday, 17 August.

A police statement said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was chased by a group of individuals, including the suspects, before being stabbed multiple times.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding between the deceased and one of the suspects, identified as 36-year-old Kwasi Opong.

He was arrested alongside 23-year-old William Francis Osei, and both are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

A third suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, is on the run. Police say a manhunt has been launched to apprehend him.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Asankrangwa Catholic Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The Western Central Regional Police Command has assured the public that all those involved in what it described as a heinous crime will face the full rigours of the law.

It has also appealed to the public to volunteer any information that could assist in the investigation by contacting the Asankrangwa Police.
