Shatta Wale Questions Team Support After ShattaFest Fallout

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has expressed disappointment with members of his team following the controversy surrounding his recent ShattaFest concert in the United Kingdom.

The musician has criticised some members of the Shatta Movement, claiming that he bears the financial responsibility of sustaining the group while receiving limited support from those around him.

Shatta Wale made the comments during a TikTok Live session, where he questioned the commitment and contribution of his team members. He alleged that many people within his camp depend on him for financial support but do not contribute meaningfully to the growth of the movement.

“They are all fools. I am the only person managing the entire Shatta Movement, and no one gives me money. No one in my crew can say they bring in money. They are always there, and I am the one who goes out to look for money to support them and keep the team going,” he said.

The dancehall artiste further accused some members of failing to take advantage of opportunities that could generate income and create additional support for the brand.

“When I send them to the house of a billionaire, they can’t even bring me money. Even the fans create opportunities for me, yet the people closest to me can’t do anything to help me,” Shatta Wale added.

His concerns also extended to his public relations manager, Sammy Flex, whom he accused of not giving enough attention to promoting the Shatta Wale brand through his podcast.

Shatta Wale criticised what he described as the frequent discussion of fellow dancehall artiste Stonebwoy on Sammy Flex’s platform, arguing that the focus should be directed towards strengthening his own brand.

“Recently, I was talking to Sammy Flex. I told him to stop talking about Stonebwoy on the podcast every single day. He still thinks we are in the radio era. He doesn’t understand the podcast he is doing,” he stated.

The comments come shortly after the cancellation of ShattaFest UK following an incident that reportedly triggered a crowd surge, leaving some attendees requiring medical attention.

The disruption at the event had already generated public discussion, and Shatta Wale’s latest remarks have added further attention to the challenges surrounding the organisation and management of his team.

The artiste’s comments highlight concerns about internal support, brand management and the pressures associated with maintaining a large entertainment movement. Shatta Wale remains one of Ghana’s most influential dancehall artistes, with a strong fan base and a career spanning more than a decade.
