MTN supports Bonwire Kente Festival

MTN Ghana, has presented an amount GH₵10,000, GH₵1000 worth of airtime and a hamper of drinks, to support this year’s Bonwire Kente Festival.
The presentation which was done at the Bonwire Chiefs palace in the Ashanti Region, is to reaffirm MTN Ghana’s commitment to helping boost the cultural values of the country and Africa at large.
The Kente festival is expected to begin on the 14th through to 20th of October with several activities each day. The Grand durbar of chiefs, elders, dignitaries and people of Bonwire would be held on the 19th and the entire festival would be crowned with a thanksgiving service on the 20th of October.
As such MTN Ghana as it has been its tradition of supporting major festivals in the country, made the presentation during a courtesy call on the chiefs and elders of Bonwire.
Speaking to journalists after making the presentation to the chief and subchiefs of Bonwire, Senior Manager, General Trade, Northern Ghana, MTN, Simon Amoh, highlighted MTN’s quest to help exhibit the culture of the country through festivals.
“MTN is a proud African company, and our culture plays a significant role in defining who we are. Festivals like this contribute to our identity as Africans, and we’ve been actively supporting major celebrations throughout the country since the beginning of the year.
“In alignment with this celebration, we provided financial support, refreshments, and airtime for the kingmakers, ensuring they stay connected, and have the resources they need for the festivities.,” he said.
Additionally, Mr. Amoh, indicated that MTN would be visibly present throughout the entire weeklong activities to render customer service to participants of the Bonwire Kente Festival.
He further urged kente manufactures to leverage MTN’s platforms to access larger markets for their products.
“During the weeklong activities, we will set up a customer service point to assist attendees in accessing the products and services they need. The production of kente requires a broader market for manufacturers to effectively sell and earn revenue.
We will also create opportunities for kente manufacturers to leverage our platforms, enabling them to reach larger markets and promote their products more effectively,” Mr. Amoh said.
Chief of Bonwire, Nana Bobie Ansah II, expressed appreciation to MTN Ghana for the kind gesture, especially with the presence of the Senior Managers, Simon Amoh and Charity Darko at the palace to make the presentation. He further praised MTN for their continuous support to the Bonwire Kente Festival throughout the years and prayed for continuous support in the coming years as well.
